Gerber NUK learner sippy cup

Gerber NUK learner cup

This is currently Max's favorite sippy. He was weaned off bottles and onto this sippy with NO problem whatsoever. He took to it immediately. There are no valves, it's leak proof and the spout is soft (made of latex). The cup comes apart easily and all parts are top rack dishwasher safe. Why do I sound like a commercial?? LOL Honestly, these cups top my list of useful items for weaning babies and toddlers.

But the MAIN reason I am posting this info is to test the power of Google. These NUK learner cups are not easy to find in stores or online. Currently the only place that carries them that I can find is Drugstore.com. And NO PLACE has replacement spouts. The cup, handles and top ring on all Max's sippies are in perfect shape after months of use, but the spouts have seen better days.

SO, after months of looking, and as a public service to all the other Moms out there who love these learner cups, here is where to get replacement spouts! You need to call Gerber directly. Call 1-800-4-Gerber and ask for the NUK Learner Cup replacement spouts. They cost $1 each (with a min order of 5).

End of public service announcement. LOL

UPDATE 7/13/09: Spouts are now $2 each with a minimum required order of $5 (so you have to buy at least 3) and a shipping charge of $5. You may also be charged tax depending on where you live. At $2 each plus shipping I think it still beats the cost of replacing the entire cup when the spout wears out.

UPDATE II 8/3/09: The round hard plastic disk that comes with this sippy is NOT a valve. It is a leak-proof seal used along with the clear dome lid to prevent the sippy from leaking inside a diaper bag or during transport. REMOVE the plastic disk before your child attempts to drink from the sippy. All you need for normal use is the o-ring and nipple-like spout. The spout has a built-in valve to regulate flow and prevent most leaks. If you still have trouble with slow flow, just press on the inside of the spout on the little bump with the X cut through it to flex it outward and give it a bit of a stretching.

Update 4/4/2011:  After several reports that Gerber no longer sells these through their 800 number, I did want to mention that they are still available from Amazon (see above) and Walmart. The entire cup is also sold at Drugstore.com.  The trick is finding them in-stock. Complaints to the Gerber 800 number will score you a free replacement spout to tide you over. Be sure to request a restock at your local Walmart!

Well my baby is 24 and we didn't have anything so high tech back in the day but if you ask me it looks like a bottle with wings. What exactly makes it different than a bottle?

I just discovered this cup today at Wal-Mart. I had never seen it before but I have a 13 month old that doesn't take well to sippies and thought I'd give it a try. Success! Yay. Anyway, wanted to tell you they have them at Wal-Mart. (at least at mine in Houston, TX)

I can't thank you enough! I have been looking for replacement parts everywhere. I called the number above and the people there were amazing. It just seemed to easy. My daughter is 11mo and decided to quit the bottle on her own however she did not like other sippy cups either so I felt stuck until I found this cup.

My 1 year old loves loves loves this cup. I have been looking everywhere for spouts and I am happy I found this site. Thanks for the heads up. She transitioned to this cup from a bottle and breast so easily.

Thank you SO much. Just got some. This is the only cup she'll use, and I've gotten through three spouts already. Thought the cups were a loss, but glad I kept them anyway.

Hi,
Today was the day for no more bottles for my daughter Sofia.
I was so happy to find the nuk learner cup at Walmart - windsor california. Question: my daughter is 12 months...how long can she use this cup for...when should I get her use to the normal sippy cup? or do I transition her eventually from this sippy cup to a plain cup? what age appox. would I do this. thanks for the sprout tip! bye Katie

The best part is that it's very easy to position the spout at the correct alignment with the handles. I hate trying to align the top before I even screw it down on other sippy cups. My son is now 20 months and we have 3--have been searching for more and need new spouts. Thanks! Also--this one is truly air tight leak proof!

Thanks for letting the world know where to get replacement sprouts, I was getting desperate!!!!

you rock!!! thanks so much to you and google! it worked! my little girl (11 mo) has been using the nuk bottle all along and i tried the valve on the regular nuk bottle at target today and it works on the bottles (in place of the nuk nipple!) yay!! i didn't think you could buy the valves separately though! I'm so excited! (can you tell?)

also, i didn't check the original date of this post, but they sell these cups at target and walmart now!

I called today (9-12-08) and ordered 5 nipples. I cannot find replacements any where near me at a store. I know a few others I am passing this info on to. My little one is almost 1 1/2 and knows how to use a straw, drinking fountain, and a cup but in the car or when we are on the go this is his preferred cup. He turns his nose at the other ones we have purchased!!!

I found your blog while searching for info on these cups. I got one for my son and having problems assembling them together. If I put the disc underneath the spout and screw it on, he can't get anything out. Am i doing it wrong? Or is it just his suction isn't strong enough? I'd appreciate any help at all.
This is great info! Does anyone also know where you can get just the handles, since they fit on the small bottles? Thanks for the info!

thanks so much!! saved us $6 each for new cups, just change out the tops on the bottles!!

My son is 6 1/2 's and he's taken to this cup very well. I'm alittle confused though. It seems to me that it's just like a bottle with the latex nipple. Do you think it's different? If so he's off the bottle. yeah!

THANK YOU!!! My son loves these sippy cups, we have 3. We lost the ring and the nipple to one, so we went out and bought another whole cup set.Since this is pretty much the only sippy cup he will use, we had to go buy another one as a back up. One day the valve/nipple to one got caught in the dishwasher and a little piece melted. So we were down to one valve, 2 rings and 3 bottles! I didn't want to have to go and buy more bottles so I googled "Gerber replacement Nuk" and your post was the first one! Thank you for this! I called Gerber and they acutally are sending me 3 complimentary replacement valves. I can't thank you enough!

WOW!!! You helped me, I have been looking for the spout alone and this just helped me a lot. thankx for the info!!!! My daughter doesnt want any other spout but in the 10 oz bottles, and it seemed like such a hassle to buy the small sippie cup when I was only gonna use the top.

Thank you soooo much! I've been looking for these spouts everywhere. My son just loves this cup. He's getting his molars right now and needless to say, the spouts have taken a turn for the worse! Thanks again. Oh, and by the way, I've always purchased my learner cups at Walmart. They're about $4. Thanks!!

When we found out that breast feeding was not an option when my daughter was born we tried out several different bottles before discovering that NUK was the best out there. Sophie loves her NUK bottles, binkies, and now her sippy cup. I am always recomending NUK products to any one who ask for my opinion on bottles, binkies, and sippy cups.
P.S.
Thank you for the information on how and where to order replacement spouts. Truely helpful!!

My baby loves this bottle too. She weaned from the breast to this cup (after trying about 10 different bottles) at 6 months. Now I can't get her off of it (and it's kind of an expensive cup). She never used a bottle.

It's different than a bottle. The nipple shape is different. It's a sippy cup. The handles are removable (my baby stopped using them after about 6 weeks).

They are at Walmart and HEB (here in TX) and Kroger. Can also buy them online.

Thanks a lot for this information. Better to buy $1 replacement spouts than the $7 replacements. My daughter is hooked on those cups because of the soft spouts she can chew on during teething.

I cannot live without this cup, my baby is in love with this cup. But, this cup is no where to be found here, where we just moved to. I found your site as I was trying to find somebody online who sold just the spout.

I called Gerber & they're sending me 3 complimentary spout!! WAHOO! I'm so happy.

Thank you!!
Anonymous said…
They are wonderful. They are also sold at Target but they don't really have a great deal of supplies there. You 'll be lucky to find them. Also, some Target vary on location are cheaper than others.
I cannot thank you enough for the number. My son will not drink out of anything else except the latex spout...and we have spent a small fortune trying every other sippy cup we could find. The spouts he has now are getting too old and we were desperate for new ones - just placed an order today - THANK YOU! My son thanks you!

It sounds dumb, but milk doesn't seem to be coming out for him either way & I want to be sure I got the thing going the direction for him to get milk when he sucks on it right.

I am just weaning my daughter off the breast after 8 and a half months of exclusivly breastfeeding. Needless to say things have been rought the last couple of days. I have bought just about every bottle ever made. Befor i started to wean her i had this NUK sippy cup for her, which she drank wat out of. She refused all bottles and nipples, latex and silicone, this is the ONLY way she will drink her formula. I highly reccomend this product, it has truly allowed to me do this, without it I dont know what I would be doing right now.

I read all the comments and i fell stupid :( we received the sippy a a gift and think there's somethin wrong with it. The baby sucks but nothing comes out, I've tried it and the water only comes out if you keek the bottle on one side...could you pls tel me how to use it properly?

I have a lot of NUk normal bottles and the are all fine, I hold them with the valve on the upper lip, facing the nose. But the sippy doesn't work like this :(
Anonymous said…
Just called Gerber and the spouts now (5/31/09) cost $2 each with a minimum order of $5 (so you have to order at least three), plus $5 shipping. I asked about getting replacement handles (I'm turning my bottles into sippies, so that's the less expensive route) and they don't carry them. She said that if enough people asked for them that might change.

Good luck everyone! :)

Just called the 1-800 number and was told the spouts are $2.00 each with a flat rate of $5.00. $10.00 for 25 or more.

I'm so glad that I came across your blog. I just got this sippy the other day, and being that I'm trying to convert her over to a sippy I need more than one nipple. I called Gerber like you had said in your blog and they are sending me 2 complementary spouts!! :0) My daughter is 10 months and refuses to take any other sippy besides this one! She took to it right away!
Unknown said…
Wow. Thanks! I gave my daughter one of these sippy's 2 months ago (when she was just 8 months) and she took to it in a matter of seconds. We have tried several others since that time and this is the only one she will take. My only problem with these are that they tend to be a little difficult to drink from and the nipples cave in from suction frequently. At any rate, I mentioned this when I called Gerber today and they are sending me free new ones to try. AWESOME!

My 1 year old also has been able to transition with this cup. HOWEVER, the directions say that you can wash them on the top rack of the dish washer, but since we don't have a dish washer, I thought it would be okay to sanitize it in the microwave, in my sanitizing thing I have, with the rest of bottles and so forth. IT WELDED THE HOLES TOGETHER! So, just an FYI. I'm so thankful that you let us know about the nipple part of this cup, I'm calling tomorrow! Thanks!

PS I found mine at Super Target in Fridley, MN. It was in the bottle section, not the sippy cup section. I'm assuming it would be in other Super Target, and maybe even regular Target's.

I pulled it out because the baby is ready for them and did a google search to see if they were available yet - and I found your blog instead. I got 2 complimentary (she said you can get 2 a year for free) and ordered a few more.

Thank you, Looking for the spouts is my main purpose online today. My daughter will only take drink from this cup. She will not drink from any sippy cups with a hard spout. its very frustrating and the silicone spouts she chews to pieces. I have been to many stores searching for the replacement spouts, with no luck. I break done and buy a new cup. I have a 7 month old who we are starting on the cup and I need to nipples. Again thank you for posting this site.

Hey I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this or not but you can also get the replacement spouts at amazon.com. These are the only cups my daughter will drink milk out of. I haven't ordered before but I am considering it. Hope this was helpful.

this so funny. My husband ran across this. Our daughter also, loves, loves, loves this cup! we took her off the bottle at 12 months with no problem with transition to this cup. She is 21 months now, and uses a variety of cups, but this one is reserved for her milk in a.m. and at night. Not only will no other sippy cup due (I have tried several, and spent a small fortune)...but mommy or daddy will travel through rain, sleet, or snow to find one in a pinch if we had to. great to know about the replacement parts. They do carry the cup at wal-mart. it's the only place I have found them.
Anonymous said…
Thanks so much. I have about a dozen of the nuk bottles and my 10 month old up and stopped drinking from them. He took to the learner cup instantly but I felt so ripped off because I had to buy the whole cup at Target. I couldn't find the sippy nipples without the cup, but I already have a bunch of them. Now I can convert my son's bottles to sippy cups because ALL the parts are interchangable.

These learner cups are my Grandson's favorite too. He refuses all other cups.
We have bought at least 12 at our local Wal-Mart and due to carelessness of babysitters and other care takers the spouts and cups have been lost. We currently have 6 cups and 4 Spouts.
So we went to our local Wal-Mart to get some more and find that the store doesn't always keep them stocked.
Thank you for the information on getting the replacement spouts these cups are so nice to have. especially in the car.
